Who we are

If you’re looking for an outfit that really stands out, The Clothes Gallery is the place to shop. Our team has more than 50 years of combined experience in fashion, and it shows in the way we treat and dress our customers.

Sherree Rothstein

Owner/ Founder

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Sherree and her husband, Michael, relocated to the Chicago area in 1981 for Michael’s position as a women’s apparel representative. Sherree attended Penn State University, starting as an art major, then eventually earning her degree in the Sciences. This combination of mathematics and art later came in handy in the world of fashion retailing.

While raising two sons, Sherree and Michael worked side by side, opening a showroom in The Chicago Apparel Mart and building a successful business that introduced up and coming designers to fashion retailers throughout the Midwest.

In 1995, Sherree decided to buy The Clothes Gallery and the beautiful Beaux-Art building in which it was housed in historic downtown Crystal Lake. Reinventing the business in her own fashion, The Clothes Gallery became a mainstay of the downtown. Now, almost 30 years later, The Clothes Gallery continues to dress women in beautiful, uniquely curated, high-quality pieces that makes them feel like their best selves.

On a personal level, Sherree has a voracious desire to continue learning. She often attends webinars and seminars to better her business. She has four grandchildren and has been happily married to Michael for almost 50 years.
