Shopping tips from owner Sherree Rothstein:
Know when to buy quality and when to buy inexpensive.
When you’re buying your basics – your work horses, the staples that you reach for again and again – go for quality. Our best-selling pant is an expensive pant, but there’s a reason why it’s a best seller: customers love it, and it’s a piece that will last for years to come, both in durability and style.
When you’re buying a trend – a piece that’s here today, gone tomorrow – opt for a less expensive version of that item. In several years, when the trend is over you don’t want to feel obligated to wear an outdated item because you spent a lot on it.
Try things that are out of your wheelhouse.
Sometimes, we can get stuck in a fashion rut. To break out of your self-imposed uniform, try something that’s just a little bit different than your current style. You might surprise yourself and find something that looks great, even if it’s not the same color or cut or style as your norm.
Find a retailer and, in particular, a sales representative that you trust, and continue to shop with them.
We train our staff very well to help customers find the outfits and pieces that best suit them. We’ll always be honest with you; we’ll never try to sell you something that doesn’t make you look your very best. As a bonus, Sherree travels around the country to upward of 10 trade shows a year, finding the best looks and values for The Clothes Gallery’s customers. That means you can be certain the assortment of pieces in store will be on trend. And Sherree purchases a limited number of styles and sizes, so the unique look you find won’t be replicated.
